Intellisense AFib®, an innovative technology that enables early detection of possible atrial fibrillation (AFib) while monitoring blood pressure. This next-generation algorithm helps establish a new standard for heart health and opens up possibilities for future predictive care.

Taking on the challenge to eliminate cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, the world's leading cause of death

Heart attacks and strokes are the leading cause of death worldwide, and reducing their occurrence to zero is an urgent global health priority. One of the major contributors to stroke is atrial fibrillation, a condition that increases stroke risk by three times. People with high blood pressure are also over three times more likely to develop AFib, making early detection especially important. However, because AFib often has no symptoms, it is difficult to detect and frequently goes unnoticed. This leads to missed opportunities for timely treatment. That’s why regular monitoring and early intervention are crucial. Intellisense AFib addresses this societal challenge by enabling early detection, helping to reduce the incidence of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases.

What is Intellisense AFib?

Intellisense AFib is an innovative technology that detects possible AFib with high accuracy by analyzing pulse pressure data during blood pressure measurement. The pressure changes caused by blood flow through the arteries when the heart beats are known as pulse pressure waves (PPW). By analyzing this PPW data, it becomes possible to detect AFib, a type of arrhythmia, at an early stage during routine blood pressure monitoring. AFib is typically diagnosed by identifying irregular heart rhythms using an electrocardiogram (ECG). However, Intellisense AFib uses a proprietary detection algorithm to assess the likelihood of AFib by analyzing pressure waveforms. This approach allows for a rapid and non-invasive assessment of risk, and is particularly effective in identifying cases without symptoms.

In this way, Intellisense AFib provides a new method for assessing AFib risk and taking appropriate early action through the simple blood pressure monitoring.

Advantages of Intellisense AFib

50 years history of developing blood pressure monitors

Intellisense AFib technology is built on five decades of experience in developing blood pressure monitors. Over this long history, a wealth of knowledge has been accumulated about pulse wave characteristics and the blood pressure measurement accuracy. This extensive experience has provided a strong foundation for achieving high accuracy in AFib detection.

Cutting-edge AI technology

This algorithm uses the latest AI technology to analyze pulse wave data. By learning from thousands of pulse wave datasets, it identifies patterns common to AFib and achieves highly precise detection. Thanks to AI's enormous data processing capabilities, it can perform real-time analysis, enabling the early detection of AFib during routine blood pressure measurements.

Technical Capabilities of In-House Specialist Team

Our in-house specialist team has been deeply involved in the development of Intellisense AFib technology. Experts in machine learning and data analysis have collaborated to build a feedback loop that continuously improves the accuracy of AI-based judgments. Engineers with specialized expertise rigorously analyze the AI-generated results and refine the algorithms. Through the close collaboration of this team, we have achieved extremely high performance, with a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 98%.

How it differs from electrocardiogram (ECG)

Conventional ECG requires users to touch electrodes with their fingers, which often leads to interruptions in the recording. This process can make it difficult to detect AFib. In contrast, blood pressure monitors equipped with Intellisense AFib can assess the risk of AFib simply by measuring blood pressure, without requiring any additional steps. This approach also supports the early detection of hypertension.

Since hypertensive patients have a threefold higher risk of AFib compared to the general population, Intellisense AFib technology is particularly beneficial. With routine blood pressure measurements, it becomes possible to assess AFib risk and take timely, appropriate action.

Globally Recognized High Accuracy

Sensitivity and Specificity: Intellisense AFib demonstrates a high level of performance, with a sensitivity of 95% for detecting AFib and a specificity of 98%, helping minimize false positives in healthy individuals.
