"Nebulizers have a central place in the treatment of children with respiratory diseases. Specific disease entities are young children (up to 6–7 yrs) with asthma and RSV bronchiolitis, disabled children, and children with cystic fibrosis. "Nebulizers are an important class of devices to deliver medication to the lungs. Nebulizers are often thought to be only for children, while adults are expected to use pMDIs or DPIs. However, many adult patients cannot handle these devices correctly. These include patients with severe COPD, exacerbations of asthma and COPD, weak respiratory muscles, low inspiratory flow rates, and combinations of these pathologies.
