OMRON Healthcare has been working on promoting and raising awareness about blood pressure monitoring since the early days. Under the scope of these activities, the company contributes to educating and sharing the latest research findings on the field.

Back when blood pressure could only be measured at a medical facility, OMRON Healthcare was already working to promote home blood pressure monitoring by cooperating with physicians, specialists and organizations. In clinical research and development, we focused on educating medical professionals and the public while raising awareness regarding the importance of home blood pressure monitoring, and collecting evidence in order to incorporate self-measured blood pressure data into diagnosis and treatment.

As part of our awareness-raising activities, OMRON Healthcare supported the formation of the Study Group for Physiology and Management of Blood Pressure, a forum for sharing the latest research findings and information relating to blood pressure management. Since then, OMRON Healthcare has remained an active supporter of all the group’s activities. We have assisted in the Ohasama study,  gathering evidence confirming the clinical value of self-measured blood pressure, for over 30 years. The Ohasama study findings contributed to establishing hypertension diagnosis criteria throughout the world.

More recently, OMRON Healthcare has been collecting new evidence and raising awareness of nocturnal blood pressure monitoring and EKG recording in order to bring these into common practice as well. This is part of our continued efforts to offer new approaches in blood pressure management.
